About me

My name is Doru Nicu, I’m a self-taught photographer and video creator from Romania.

I started this amazing journey when I bought my first camera in 2011 and tried experimenting with different techniques I found on Youtube at that time. My educational background is a Bachelor’s and Master’s degree in Surveying and Topography Engineering. I also have more than 8 years of videography experience and I started studying photography on professional level in 2020.

Photography has been my best comfort and source of imagination since I was young. It made me appreciate more the environment I find myself in and I often pay attention to every detail, color, shape, and dimension. Landscape photography is at the core of my passion. I love capturing nature and stunning environments. I am addicted to colors and I often love giving my work a dreamy natural look. I have no borders in approaching any branch of photography and my striking attention to detail and artistic nature is obvious  across my portfolio.

I received the most impact and inspiration from a few mentors like Serge Ramelli, Scott Kelby, and Thomas D. Mangelsen, which I met personally in his gallery in Jackson, WI

As a landscape and urban photographer, I’m happy to say that I have accomplished a few things that I’m proud of:

– 1st place winner of CIEE photography contest “Enjoying the Great Outdoors” in U.S.A.

– Two of my photographs were published in “Magic Eye” touristic promotional album of Bucharest

– I obtained my Photographer diploma and EU drone pilot license
